2 homeless men charged after Sioux Falls homicide

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police say two homeless men have been charged after the shovel-beating death of another man.
• Authorities say 43-year-old Eugene Martin was arrested for first-degree murder and 52-year-old Clint Cottonwood was arrested on simple assault charges. Police say both are transients, and registered sex offenders. They appeared in court on Friday afternoon and were formally charged.
• The body was discovered Thursday night in a wooded area in the northeast part of the city. Neighbors tell KELO-TV that the area is popular among homeless people. Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Robert Thunderhawk, a known tran

sient.
• Chuck Kopecky lives in the neighborhood. He tells the Argus Leader that the homeless people don't bother anyone, but now he's shy about letting children use the biking and hiking trail in the area.
