Fire prompts Sioux Falls apartment evacuation

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Sioux Falls apartment building was briefly evacuated after a morning fire.
• Authorities say the blaze about 5 a.m. Monday began in a second-floor apartment bathroom. A tenant put it out with a fire extinguisher, and was later treated for smoke inhalation.
• No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.

Hundreds gather to remember slain Rapid City woman

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Hundreds of people gathered in the Walmart parking lot in Rapid City for a candlelight vigil to remember a woman who was slain there.
• Friends, family members and acquaintances of 30-year-old Morgan Myers gathered Sunday night to pray and sing Amazing Grace after a Facebook campaign organized by two local women. Family members thanked those in the crowd for their support.
• Police say Myers was stabbed to death last Thursday. An autopsy showed she was pregnant with her fifth child. The man accused of killing her is in the hospital after allegedly stabbing himself. Authorities say Myers had gotten a protection order against 30-year-old Michael Young after a romantic involvement.
• Myers' funeral is Thursday.

• MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- May Day moved beyond its roots as an international workers' holiday to a day of international protest Tuesday, with rallies throughout Asia demanding wage increases and marches planned across Europe over government-imposed austerity measures.
• Europeans will take to the streets to protest against the measures that are being blamed for a big increase in the number of unemployed, particularly in Spain where one in four people is out of work.
