• Groton's girls took part in the pre-region golf meet held May 1 at the Meadow Creek Golf Course in Volga.
• Rachel Blackmun placed 14th with a 113. Other scores were Allison Weber with a 115, Kasey Waage with a 116, Alexa Schuring had a 124, Nikki Koehler had a 125 and Katie Koehler had a 137.
• Dell Rapids had the low score of 393 followed by Aberdeen Roncalli with a 394, Sisseton had a 444 and Groton had a 468.
• The girls also took part in the Roncalli Invitational meet held April 30 where Maddie Colestock placed ninth with a 105. The other Groton scores were Alexa Schuring with a 114, Rachel Blackmun shot a 121, Kasey Waage had a 127 and Nikki Koehler had a 134.
• Milbank had the low team score of 399 followed by Roncalli with a 421 and Groton shot a 467, Redfield had an incomplete team.

Groton residents awoke Wednesday morning with a May Basket greeting them at the front door. The basket featured the list of churches and their times along with a copy of "Our Daily Bread", a key chain with the Lord's Prayer on it, fortune cookies and pieces of candy that had a scripture reading on them.
