• Each year the GHS PAC rewards those parents who have helped in the concession stand during the year. The names are placed in a drawing and four names are chosen. This year the $50 cash awards were presented to Sherry Koehler, Doug Jorgensen, Tom Lipp and Brenda Madsen. PAC also presents one senior with a Groton blanket; the name drawn this year was Brandon Stanley. It also happened to be Stanley's birthday! PAC President Jan Seibel presented the awards.
• At the end of each year's banquet, two top athletes, one boy and one girl, are chosen to receive the Richard Duerre Memorial Award. Schuring presented the scholarship awards to Matt Thorson and Hannah Luecke.
