• The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in the latest crop and weather report that there were 2.6 days suitable for field work this past week. That left farmers catching up on fixing fence lines, lining up seed delivery, applying fertilizers and caring for livestock, calving and lambing.
• Temperatures returned closer to seasonal averages across the state compared to the much warmer temperatures early in the spring.
• Topsoil moisture is rated at 89 percent adequate to surplus, and 11 percent short. Subsoil moisture is 73 percent adequate to surplus, 25 percent short, and 2 percent very short.
