SD man sentenced to 3 years for sexual assualt
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Bullhead, South Dakota man convicted of abusive sexual contact with a juvenile has been sentenced to three years in prison. • U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 24-year-old Landon Iron Thunder was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty in March. • Authorities say the crime occurred in 2010 at Iron Thunder's home. • Landon also was convicted of menacing in Burleigh County, North Dakota in February. He was given a one-year suspended jail sentence and two years of probation. • Johnson says that sentence will run consecutive with Iron Thunder's prison time in in South Dakota. • Iron Thunder also was sentenced in federal court in South Dakota to five years of supervised release once his prison sentence ends. •
SD military pilot charged with child pornography
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- An Ellsworth Air Force Base pilot accused of distributing and possessing child pornography has pleaded not guilty • U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says a federal grand jury indicted Capt. Michael Fech of Box Elder on Wednesday. Fech was released but ordered to wear an electronic monitor. • The 30-year-old Fech is accused of knowingly distributing and possessing computer files containing child pornography from December 2013 through June 2014. • Court documents say authorities confiscated seven computer devices from Fech. •
SD limits dam releases to counter flooding
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks officials have cautioned boaters about limited water releases from the Fort Randall Dam near Pickstown and Gavin's Point Dam near Yankton. • In an effort to control flood waters, officials have decreased dam flow. The result is a drop in river elevation below the dams. Department officials ask boaters to be wary of hazards in the shallower waters. • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division on Tuesday had an (Continued on page 14)
