2 women plead not guilty to arson in Huron fire
• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- Two women have pleaded not guilty to arson and burglary charges for a fire that took place at a Huron restaurant in March. • KOKK-AM in Huron reports that 30-year-old Julia Lopez and 55-year-old Kathleen Wollman appeared in court on Wednesday in Beadle County. • Officials say the fire at the Tailgate Restaurant on March 27 was arson attempting to conceal a burglary. • The fire caused extensive damage but the restaurant has reopened. • Trial dates for Lopez and Wollman are tentatively set for next month. •
SD man pleads guilty in staged robbery
• HURON, S.D. (AP) One of two men charged in a staged armed robbery of a Huron convenience store has changed his plea to guilty. • Performance Radio of Huron reports that 27-year-old Sidney Malone Jr. pleaded guilty to grand theft. He faces up to five years in prison. • Malone and 26-year old Donnell Williams are accused of setting up a fake armed robbery at the store where both men worked. • Williams is accused of bringing a handgun into the store and pointing it at Malone on Jan. 29. • Malone says he took more than 3,100 dollars. Malone is currently out of jail on bond and a sentencing date has not been set. • A trial for Williams was set for June 26 but has been delayed. •
