Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the welcome center. • Ziolkowski took over leadership of the Black Hills tourist attraction that honors Native Americans upon the 1982 death of her husband, sculptor Korczak (kohr'-CHALK) Ziolkowski. • It draws more than a million visitors to the southern Black Hills annually and brings in millions of dollars every year, mainly through admission fees. •
ND Rural Development head to lead national effort
• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The state director in North Dakota for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency has been tabbed to lead a nationwide initiative. • Jasper Schneider will lead USDA's Community and Economic Development initiative. Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Doug O'Brien appointed Schneider. • The goal of the initiative is to extend Rural Development's reach, focusing on underserved areas, tribal regions and counties with high poverty rates. •
Sales, property tax refunds being accepted in SD
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Department of Revenue is accepting applications from eligible senior and disabled residents for once-a-year sales or property tax refunds. • Qualified applicants can receive a refund based on their income. The program's income requirements for this year set the limit at $11,670 for a single-member household and at $15,730 for a multiple-member household. • Applications will be accepted through July 1 and checks will be issued at the end of August. • Among other requirements, those applying must have been South Dakota residents for the entire previous year and at least 66 years old on or before Jan. 1 or be disabled during any part of the year. • Applications can be obtained from the department's website or at a local county auditor's office. •
