Sealing up the cracks on Groton's streets

The frost has created many cracks on Groton's streets this spring. The city council hired Aberdeen Asphalt to come and seal up the cracks. This prevents water from getting below the asphalt which would then soften the gravel and thus, create the unsightly potholes. Pictured here are Todd Odenbach on the left who is smoothing out the tar. On the right is Doug Braa, the owner of Aberdeen Asphalt. Braa has owned the business for 19 years, but he has worked for the company for 35 years.

Jim Shuff drives the white pickup with the tar machine behind it. Here he is helping to unpack blocks of tar.
