Rain developing in the eastern U.S. with severe thunderstorms possible in the Gulf Coast and Southeast Sunday into Monday
• After a tranquil start to the weekend, a storm system in the southern U.S. will begin to intensify over the lower Mississippi River Valley on Sunday. Rain, heavy at times, will spread northward from the Gulf Coast all the way to New England by Monday. The storm system will also be capable of producing severe thunderstorms in the Gulf Coast region toward the Southeast states Sunday and Monday.

the lower 60s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.
• Tonight: Partly cloudy. A slight chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then a slight chance of rain showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.
