(AP) -- Brendon Boomsma made two free throws with 12 seconds left to play to lift Tri-Valley over Sioux Valley 54-53 in the fifth-place game at the South Dakota Class A boys basketball tournament on Saturday. • Boomsma finished with 22 points. He Je made 5 of 11 field goals and 8 of 11 free throws for the Mustangs (14-12). Boomsma was the only double-figure scorer for Tri-Valley • Sioux Valley (20-5) had taken a 53-52 lead on Tayt Vincent's three-point play with 16 seconds left. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte takes seventh at state A
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Creighton LeBeau scored 34 points as Cheyenne-Eagle Butte beat Pine Ridge 83-55 in the seventh-place game at the South Dakota Class A boys basketball tournament on Saturday. • The Braves (20-5) outscored Pine Ridge 32-12 in the second quarter to take a 47-24 lead into halftime. • LeBeau was 10-for-17 from the field and 9-for-9 from the line. He made 5 of 8 3-pointers and led the Braves in rebounding with six. Xavier Norris added 22 points. • The Thorpes (20-5) got 16 points from Jacob Dreamer and 13 from Jacob Brown. •
SF Roosevelt beats SF Lincoln for AA title
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls Roosevelt defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 63-48 on Saturday night to capture the South Dakota Class AA boys basketball title. • The Rough Riders (22-3) scored 11 of the game's first 14 points. • Lincoln (13-13), a No. 8 seed that played its way into the championship game, never recovered from the poor start as Roosevelt won the first matchup ever between Sioux Falls teams in a title game. • Roosevelt won all three matchups between the two teams this season. It was appearing in the title game for the first time since 2000. • Colton Kooima had 15 points and Chris Phillips and Josh Kirkwold scored 11 (Continued on page 23)
