• Groton made 32 percent of its field goals, making 12 of 28 shots. Sippel and Kurtz each made two three-pointers. The same two girls shined from the line, making and attempting all of Groton's free throws. They made 16 of 22 free throws for 73 percent. "That was big for us," Wanner said. Kylie Hawkins had eight rebounds while Kurtz had seven and Sippel and Wheeting each had five. Groton had six steals as the Cavaliers threw the ball away six more times on their own. Sippel and Hawkins each had two steals. Groton had five assists with Kurtz and Wheeting each having two. Groton turned the ball over only three times on their own as the Cavaliers had nine steals. Groton had 16 fouls with Wheeting having four.

Coach Shaun Wanner called time-out with 5 seconds left in the first half. The time out allowed the Tigers to set up the final play. Carly Wheeting made her move as Courtney Kurtz made the inbound pass that allowed Wheeting to make the basket and give Groton a 24-17 lead at half time.
