Kurtz, who tried to make a basket under the basket, ended up passing off to Reilly Ell who sank a three-pointer. Seconds later, Reilly Ell hit another three-pointer and the first quarter ended with Kurtz making a basket with three second left.
• As the team went into the locker room, the Groton crowd rose to their feet for a round of applause. Groton was leading at half time, 33-21.
• Reilly Ell scored all 18 of his points in the first half. "That's the way our guys work," Kjellsen said. "A different guy will step up to lead the scoring. The kids did what we wanted them to do and everyone did an excellent job."

• Madsen started out the fourth quarter with a pair of baskets and Wyatt Lone found several openings under the branches of the trees to tally in six points in the fourth quarter. Sternhagen hade one of two free throws as Groton won by 15 points, 53-38.
• Reilly Ell led Groton in scoring with 18 points followed by Wyatt Lone with 10, Mason Madsen and Kasey Kurtz
