Sioux Falls police investigating shooting of teen
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police are investigating a shooting that sent an 18-year-old man to the hospital. • The incident happened about 6 p.m. Friday in 200 block of South Caley Place. Police say the victim was found in the street with a gunshot wound to the face. • The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. • Police have detained a juvenile suspect in the case. •
Suspect in thefts arrested after chase on highway
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A suspect in a string of South Dakota grand theft investigations was arrested after a late night car chase that stretched from Rapid City to Sturgis. • Rapid City police responded to a call just before midnight Friday in reference to a stolen vehicle. Police and Highway Patrol troopers pursued the tan 1997 Lincoln Continental on Interstate 90 to Sturgis, where Sturgis police deployed a tire deflation device and stopped the car. • Nineteen-year-old Angelo Richards, of Rapid City, was charged with eluding law enforcement, failing to report an accident, driving without a license, possession of a stolen vehicle, and several counts of grand theft involving vehicles and property. He has several outstanding warrants. • Richards was the sole occupant of the car. •
SD governor likes extending lawmakers' term limits
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard says he likely would vote for a proposed constitutional amendment that would extend the term limits that apply to state lawmakers. • Senate and House members can serve no more than four consecutive terms in a chamber, for a total of eight years. But a lawmaker can run for another chamber after being term-limited in one. • The Legislature is considering a proposed constitutional amendment that would extend term limits to six two-year terms, or 12 consecutive years in a chamber.
