Sioux Falls police have suspects in robbery spree
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police say the arrests of two men in connection with a convenience store robbery should help them solve a string of recent armed holdups. • Twenty-year-old Joshua Porth and 24-year-old Jonathon Julson are charged with one count of first-degree robbery in connection with an early Friday morning robbery at a Kum & Go convenience store. • Authorities say additional charges could be filed once police complete their investigation. • The city has seen 10 armed robberies within a month and police say they have suspects in all but two of the cases. • Sioux Falls Police Chief Doug Barthel says the robberies have put residents on edge and he hopes the arrests will ease some of those fears. •
SD men sentenced as part of large drug conspiracy
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Three South Dakota men charged in a wide-ranging drug conspiracy have been sentenced in federal court. • Fifty-seven-year old Edward Vocu, 62-year old Moses Montileaux Sr. and 57-year-old Zeno Little were charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. They were among 18 people charged in the case. • Vocu was sentenced to 10 years and prison and Montileaux to five years. Little was ordered to serve three years of probation. • Authorities say the investigation began in October 2008 and involved the distribution of marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. •
