Rapid City police look for casino robbery suspect
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Rapid City police say they're looking for a man who robbed a casino at gunpoint. • Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel says a man entered Toby's Casino on East North Street on Thursday night and demanded money from the clerk. He threatened the clerk with a handgun and left with cash. • A witness reported that as the suspect left, he fell on the ice and snow, firing one shot from his gun. • Officers stopped a male subject running away from the scene and arrested him on a warrant, but they determined he wasn't the robbery suspect. •
Gov. appoints 2 to SD Transportation Commission
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard has appointed Sioux Falls lawyer Tim Dougherty and Mitchell businessman Larry Thompson to the South Dakota Transportation Commission. • Dougherty is a partner in a law firm. He replaces Mike McDowell on the commission. • Thomspon is CEO of Vantage Point Solutions, a telecommunications engineering and consulting company. Thompson replaces Kevin Schieffer, who resigned from the Transportation Commission after being appointed to the state Board of Regents. • The nine-member Transportation Commission oversees the state's highway system and other transportation programs. •
