Wendy's High School Heisman
• Reilly Ell and Cheyenne Schaller, both seniors at Groton High School, were nominated for the annual Wendy's High School Heisman Award and were named school winners. The national awards program, created by Wendy's, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City, recognizes academic achievement, community service and athletic accomplishments. Cheyenne was also named state finalist and the Wendy's girls state winner for South Dakota. • Reilly has been involved in many sports including football, basketball, and golf and has participated in the Natural Helper group and church youth group. He has been selected for the All-Area Basketball team, Northeast Conference All Conference 1st and 3rd teams in basketball, National Honor Society, and the Principal's Honor Roll. Reilly has volunteered as a youth coach, been a referee and scorekeeper for many sports, helped with the GHS food drive, and helped with church youth programs including the BAGS food program. Reilly is the son of Kami and Tom Lipp of Groton and Tony Ell of Redfield. He plans to attend South Dakota State University and major in pharmacy. • Cheyenne has been involved in soccer, track, show choir, dance team, and figure skating. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, Honor Choir, the US Achievement Academy and the 2013 SD State HS Soccer All-tournament team. Additionally, Cheyenne volunteers her time as a Sunday school teacher, children's choir director, figure skating instructor, tutor, and babysitter. Cheynne is the daughter of Steve and Julie Schaller of Groton. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and major in chemical engineering and Spanish.
