Utilities company warns customers about phone scam
• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Officials with Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. are warning customers about a phone scam. • The company says people are receiving calls warning them that their utility service will be disconnected if they don't pay their bill immediately over the phone. • Officials say the company does not collect payment in that manner and asks anyone who receives such a call to report it at 1-800-638-3278. • Montana-Dakota Utilities serves about 135,000 electric customers and 245,000 natural gas customers in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. •
South Dakota Capitol lighting ceremony is Tuesday
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota's Capitol comes alive for Christmas this week. • The lighting ceremony for nearly 100 decorated trees set up around the building is Tuesday evening. • The trees were decorated by volunteers from communities, schools, churches, nonprofit organizations and state government offices. • The largest of the trees in the rotunda was decorated by the Department of Game, Fish & Parks. The 38-foot blue spruce was donated by Brandon residents Cassandra and Brandon Deffenbaugh. •
