Mont. man starts 'Heifers for SD' to help ranchers

• MILES CITY, Mont. (AP) -- A Montana rancher says more than 130 heifers have been donated to South Dakota ranchers who lost cattle in this month's devastating blizzard and need to replenish their herds.
• Ty Linger, of Miles City, Mont., set up the "Heifers for S. Dakota" Facebook page in an effort to get ranchers in surrounding states to pledge cows to those who lost at least 25 percent of their herd.
• He tells the Black Hills Pioneer (http://bit.ly/1git54e ) that he's close to being established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and has 17 branches set up in Montana and other states to help with the effort.
• He also set up the website helpforsouthdakota.com so people can also send monetary donations.

Grand jury likely in death of NFL star's son

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Prosecutors expect to ask a grand jury to consider more serious charges in the death of the 2-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
• Tom Wollman, Lincoln County state's attorney, said Tuesday he'll review the recently completed autopsy findings and other reports before looking at any new charges against Joseph Robert Patterson, 27.
• "We'll seek a grand jury review in the near future," Wollman said.
• Sioux Falls police identified the boy Tuesday as Tyrese Robert Ruffin, who died Friday after being hospitalized with severe head injuries. Earlier Tuesday, they'd given an incorrect surname.
• Patterson, the boyfriend of Tyrese's mother, was charged last week with aggravated assault and aggravated battery and is being held on $750,000 cash bond. A message left for Patterson's attorney Tuesday was not returned, and Patterson's
