Crash after SD police pursuit results in 1 dead
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities say a passenger in a car that was being pursued by deputies in Rapid City died at the scene after the car crashed into three other vehicles. • Rapid City police say the accident happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday, after a report that the driver of a 2005 Chevy Impala was trying to run other vehicles off the road. • Pennington County deputies were pursuing the Impala for less than two minutes when the collision occurred. A passenger in the Impala was declared dead at the scene. • Authorities say the driver of the Impala and one other passenger were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The drivers of the other three vehicles were treated for non-life threatening injuries. • Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. •
Flood warning remains in effect for some SD areas
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota authorities say residents should remain on the lookout for high water in parts of the Black Hills. • The National Weather Service says a flood warning remained in effect Saturday morning for parts of Custer, Pennington and Meade counties. • The weather service says streams and creeks are full in many locations, including the Belle Fourche River, Elk Creek, Morris Creek and Rapid Creek. • Officials say the possibility of debris jams could also lead to flooding. •
