1966: Late season thunderstorms brought hail and strong winds to southeast South Dakota causing extensive damage to some soybean fields. The greatest damage was in the Garretson area. The strong winds also damaged many utility lines along with a number of farm structures damaged. Lightning struck a church at Lake Andes and it was destroyed by fire. The storms occurred from late on the 13th to the morning of the 14th.

1846: A hurricane that roared across Cuba and Florida a couple of days earlier continued its path through Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia and Pennsylvania inflicting damage along its entire route. Philadelphia and Boston suffered damage.

1966: Tonight into the 14th Denver experienced seven inches of wet early-season snow that caused extensive power outages as tree limbs broke under the weight of the snow.
