This year, just 28 percent had dropped leaves as of Monday, well behind the five-year average of 41 percent. • Commodity Weather Group in a recent bulletin said a pattern of dry weather over the past weeks has taken a toll on the pod set and fill for soybeans in nearly half of the Midwest soybean belt. • The firm, which tracks weather relevant to the agriculture and energy industries, had already lowered its estimate to 34.9 bushel in its Aug. 30 bulletin. •

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Powerball ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $40,000 in the latest drawing. • South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball in Wednesday's drawing to win the game's $10,000 third prize. The ticket buyer also purchased a $1 option that quadrupled the prize. • Powerball is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning $40,000 are 1 in about 649,000. • The jackpot for Saturday's drawing sits at $317 million. •
