SD State Fair raising money for new exhibit hall
• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota State Fair Foundation has started a campaign to raise $4 million to build a new 4-H exhibit hall on the fairgrounds in Huron. • The campaign will seek donations over the next three years to replace the aging Clover Hall, which has been used since the 1950s for 4-H exhibits and competitions. Officials say nearly $1.2 million has already been raised. • The new hall will feature multiple classrooms, a large kitchen for 4-H special foods competitions, year-round concessions and a performance stage. It also will provide an additional exhibit hall in Huron for community events held throughout the year, with rental revenue providing more money to the State Fair. • Officials say 9,000 young South Dakotans are members of 4-H. •
