• Players, parents and fans gathered at the Groton American Legion on Thursday evening to celebrate the Groton American Legion Baseball team's ninth State B Championship. For the first time Groton has back-to-back championships.
• As a way of expressing their thanks and pride, the members of the American Legion Post #39 provided a BBQ supper free of charge to the community at the Legion hall. Doug Hamilton acted as the master of ceremonies and expressed the pride felt by the Legion and the community in the team's accomplishments.
• "Thank you," Hamilton said. "For making us proud."
