Bucks sign 2nd round draft pick Wolters
• MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Bucks have signed second-round draft pick Nate Wolters. • The team announced the signing Thursday. Terms were not disclosed. • The 6-foot-4 point guard played four years at South Dakota State, where he holds school records for scoring (2,353 points), assists (663) and free throws made (644). • Wolters scored a school-record 53 points and broke another mark with nine 3-pointers in a win over IPFW last February. He led the 14th-seeded Jackrabbits to their first NCAA tournament appearance in the 2011-12 season and another trip last year. • As a senior last season, Wolters averaged 22.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He became the first Summit League player to earn AP All-American honors when he was named to the third team. •
Mich. targets SD Internet lender for high rates
• LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan regulators have cited a South Dakota-based Internet lender that they say is charging interest rates of more than 340 percent. • The state Department of Insurance and Financial Services said Thursday that it's given notice of Michigan's intention to issue a cease-and-desist order to Western Sky Financial. State officials say Western Sky is charging loans fees of as much as 70 percent of the loan amount, 14 times the legal limit. • The company has a Sept. 24 hearing before any final order. • Western Sky is owned by a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Company spokesman Patrick Dorton says federal Indian law and tribal regulations govern Western Sky. • Dorton says the company gives customers "quick and easy financing ... with loan terms that are clear and upfront."
