Fire damages Pierre business and apartments

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Officials are investigating the cause of a fire in Pierre that damaged a business and two upstairs apartments.
• Fire Chief Bill Alexander says two people who were in one of the apartments when the blaze started Wednesday evening escaped unharmed.
• The fire started in a cardboard storage area behind Capital Sports and spread to the building. Damage was mostly contained to the building's exterior, though there was smoke damage inside the business and the apartments.
• KCCR radio reports that damage to the building itself is estimated at between $10,000 and $15,000. Deputy Fire Chief Ian Paul tells the station that the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

SD man pleads guilty to murdering uncle

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Wagner man has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his uncle and wounding another relative on the Yankton Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
• U.S. Attorney Brendon Johnson says 24-year-old Dancing Bull Fischer faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 23 on charges of second-degree murder and assault with the intent to commit murder.
• Authorities say Fischer shot and killed 47-year-old Anthony Fischer Jr. and wounded Dominic Fischer during a house party near Marty last Nov. 27.
