Oregon defeats South Dakota State 3-2
• EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Ryon Healy hit a two-run double in the eighth to give Oregon a 3-2 win against South Dakota State Friday night in the NCAA Eugene regional. • Oregon had just one hit before Healy's double reached left-center field and gave the Ducks (46-14) their first lead. • The Ducks chased South Dakota State starting pitcher Layne Somsen with J.J. Altobelli's leadoff walk in the eighth. • Altobelli went to second on Brett Thomas' sacrifice bunt before Jackrabbits reliever J.D. Moore hit Aaron Payne with a pitch. Healy followed and drove in both. • Oregon closer Jimmie Sherfy finished the game in the ninth for his 21st save of the season. • Oregon advances to play Rice, while South Dakota State (35-23) will take on San Francisco in a loser-out game on Saturday. •
Entwisle to be inducted into SD Golf Hall of Fame
• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- A Huron golfer is being inducted into the South Dakota Golf Association Hall of Fame. • KOKK reports that Jim Entwisle will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday at the Huron Country Club. • He was the Golf Association's Golfer of the Year in 1981 and 1987. He won match play titles in 1980, 1981 and 1986. • Entwisle says he's honored to be selected for the Hall. He says one of his most memorial experiences was winning the 1980 match play. • Entwisle is also a member of the Huron High School Hall of Fame. He is a past president of the South Dakota Golf Association and is currently on the Junior Golf Foundation Board. •
