Sanford Health expanding helicopter service
• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Dakotas-based Sanford Health is expanding its air ambulance helicopter service to the Bismarck region. • Sanford AirMed operates a fleet of four helicopters and four airplanes from bases in Bismarck and Fargo in North Dakota, Sioux Falls in South Dakota and Bemidji in Minn. • The Bismarck helicopter service is scheduled to start in June, serving patients in central and western North Dakota as well as parts of South Dakota and Montana. • • SD farmers get spring planting break from governor • PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota farmers are being allowed to move over-wide fertilizer application vehicles on roads during nighttime hours through the rest of the month. • Gov. Dennis Daugaard has issued an executive order extending the hours of travel in response to the delayed spring planting season due to cold and snowy weather. • Over-wide vehicles must not exceed 12 feet in width and must be equipped with warning lights. The vehicles also are not allowed to exceed road weight limits. •
Former SD state Rep. Ralph Homan dies at 84
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Former South Dakota legislator Ralph Homan has died. • Gov. Dennis Daugaard says Homan died on Wednesday in Mitchell. He was 84. • Homan was a Mount Vernon resident when he served two terms in the South Dakota House of Representatives, from 1983-86. • Daugaard has ordered flags lowered to half-staff at the state Capitol on Monday, the day of Homan's funeral at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. •
