Another spring day, another snowstorm in Dakotas
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Another spring day, another snowstorm in the Dakotas. • The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning for far eastern South Dakota, and winter weather advisories in other parts of that region and also southeastern North Dakota. • Forecasters say half a foot of snow or more could fall in eastern South Dakota, and southeastern North Dakota could see 2-4 inches. Wind gusting up to 35 mph could make travel hazardous in the region. • Snowstorms have been crossing the Dakotas for the past week, dumping record amounts of snow in some areas. Eastern South Dakota is still recovering from a three-day snow and ice storm last week. Officials in Sioux Falls say they might have to suspend tree branch cleanup because of the new storm. •
Farm Rescue banquet to feature benefit concert
• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The Farm Rescue nonprofit's annual banquet this fall will feature a benefit concert by country music singer Jason Brown. • North Dakota-based Farm Rescue provides planting and harvesting help to farmers in the Dakotas, eastern Montana, Minnesota and Iowa who have suffered a major injury, illness or disaster. Brown was born and raised in Iowa, and he says helping farmers in crisis is "just the right thing to do." • Farm Rescue was launched in 2006 and helped its 200th farmer last year. That figure is likely to approach 250 by the end of this year. • Farm Rescue's annual banquet is Nov. 1 at the Best Western Ramkota in Bismarck. •
SD official studies court ruling on DUI tests
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says his office is reviewing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling to determine if it will have any effect on the state's law regarding blood tests for people suspected of drunken driving. • The Supreme Court has ruled that police usually must try to get a search warrant from a judge before ordering blood tests for drunken-driving suspects.
