Aberdeen man claims $10K Hot Lotto prize
• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- An Aberdeen man has claimed a $10,000 Hot Lotto prize. • Lottery officials say Paul Kleine matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Hot Ball to win the game's second prize in the March 30th drawing. • The odds of winning it are one in about 608,000. • Hot Lotto is played in 13 states including both Dakotas, as well as the District of Columbia. The jackpot sits at more than $4 million for the next drawing, on Wednesday. •
EPA fines SD ethanol plants for violations
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The federal Environmental Protection Agency says a Minnesota company has agreed to pay $136,500 in fines to settle violations at its ethanol plants in the South Dakota cities of Huron and Aberdeen. • The EPA says inspections at Advanced BioEnergy LLC's plants in January 2012 found violations related to the facilities' risk management programs and a failure to properly file paperwork detailing the use and management of chemicals. • Advanced BioEnergy is based in Bloomington, Minn. Officials did not immediately return telephone calls Monday seeking comment. •
Man indicted in death of woman in South Dakota
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A Brule County grand jury has indicted a Mitchell man in the death of a woman whose body was found in a farmstead shed near Chamberlain. • Thirty-six-year-old Kent Davidson faces murder and other charges. He could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted. • Davidson is accused of murdering 26-year-old Crystal Schulz, of Mitchell. Her body was found March 14. The Daily Republic newspaper reports the two were engaged, and the farmstead was Schulz's mother's. • Davidson is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
