No travel advisory lifted for eastern North Dakota
• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota's Transportation Department has lifted a no travel advisory for eastern North Dakota as a late-winter storm moves out of the area. • Officials are still urging motorists to be cautious because of snow and scattered ice on roadways. Roads in northeastern South Dakota also are reported to be slippery. • The storm brought several inches of snow and strong winds to the region Sunday and Monday, shutting down schools, businesses and government offices. • Cold weather is expected to linger for a bit longer. The forecast calls for wind chills in central and eastern North Dakota as low as 30 degrees below zero overnight into Wednesday. • Things were dramatically different a year ago. The Forum newspaper reports that on March 18, 2012, the temperature in Fargo hit 78 degrees. •
Man shot by Rapid City officer pleads not guilty
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A man shot by a Rapid City police officer after allegedly threatening officers with a butcher knife has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him. • Twenty-year-old Elijah White Magpie is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault on a police officer and intentional damage to public and private property. He could face more than 50 years in prison if convicted. • Authorities say the Feb. 21 incident began when White Magpie allegedly threw a rock through a window at the city library and shattered a window in a parked van. He entered his pleas Monday while sitting in a wheelchair. •
South Dakota authorities search for missing inmate
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from a minimum-security unit at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
