South Central dumps Potter County 64-54
• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- South Central came back from a halftime deficit to beat Potter County 64-54 in a first-round game at the South Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament on Thursday. • Trailing 24-22, the Cougars (22-2) outscored the Battlers 16-10 in the third to take the lead. South Central shot 58 percent from the field and made four of six three-pointers. • Sam Hazen led the way with 19 points, followed by Tyler Frank with 18 points and nine rebounds and Dakota Votaw with 12 points. • Potter County (22-1) suffered its first loss of the year despite a balance offense that included 12 points from Kole Hawkinson, 11 from Tanner Heuer and Chayce Hall and 10 from Tate Nafziger.
Dupree rallies to beat Arlington 71-63 in Class B
• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- Nate Widow's 34 points capped his all-around game that helped Dupree come back from a halftime deficit to beat Arlington 71-63 on Thursday in the first round of the South Dakota Class B basketball tournament. • Widow also had eight rebounds and five assists for the Tigers (23-1), who trailed the Cardinals 37-32 at halftime. Widow was 15-for-28 shooting with three three-pointers. • Kash Deal chipped in 12 points for Dupree, which shot 45 percent. • Andrew King scored a team-high 19 points for Arlington (17-5). Zach Warnke added 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Cole VanBockern grabbed 10 boards.
SF Roosevelt rolls to win at state AA
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Brandon Boggs had 23 point to lead Sioux Falls Roosevelt over Rapid City Stevens 73-43 in the first round of the South Dakota boys Class AA basketball tournament on Thursday. • Boggs was 8-for-11 from the field to lead four Rough Riders (22-1) into double figures. He was joined by Colton Kooima, who had five three-pointers and 15 points, Tyler Howard with 13 points and Nate Cole with 12. • Howard led all rebounders with seven. • The Rough Riders, whose only loss this season is to a team from Marshall, Minn., shot 49 percent from the field.
