Storm strands UND hockey team stranded in SD

• SISSETON, S.D. (AP) -- The University of North Dakota hockey team is stranded in South Dakota after officials closed a portion of Interstate 29 because of a winter storm.
• The Forum reports (http://bit.ly/XmTHFN) that the team and many fans were on their way back from a weekend series in Omaha, Neb., when officials in South Dakota closed Interstate 29 from Watertown to the North Dakota border.
• UND assistant athletic director Jayson Hajdu says the team attempted to drive back to Grand Forks on Saturday night but had to pull off the interstate at a truck stop near Summit, S.D, and spent the night on the bus.
• On Sunday, Summit residents opened up a community building and started cooking barbecue for the stranded team members.

SD Legislature postpones session due to storm

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Legislators are getting an extra day of rest after leaders decided to push back this week's session because of a winter storm pounding the area.
• The Legislative Research Council says the Legislature's four-day session will be shifted from Tuesday through Friday instead of Monday through Thursday this week.
• Many lawmakers, lobbyists, interns and pages typically travel to Pierre on Sundays, and portions of Interstate 90 and 29 were closed on Sunday. Officials have urged no travel unless absolutely necessary.

Latest Earth satellite to launch from Calif. coast

• VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) -- A rocket carrying an Earth observation satellite is scheduled to blast off from the California coast on a mission to keep a continuous eye on the planet's resources.
