(AP) -- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says 31 people died from work injuries in South Dakota during 2011. • The preliminary numbers show that the number of work-related fatalities in the state decreased by five from the previous year. • Of the 31 fatalities, 14 were from transportation incidents. The agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting industry had the largest number of fatalities in the state with eight. • The majority of people who died in South Dakota during 2011 from workplace injuries were white non-Hispanics men who worked for wages and salaries. •
