Wind, warmth elevate fire danger in parts of SD

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Gusty winds and warm temperatures are elevating the fire danger in parts of South Dakota.
• The Wildland Fire Division is urging people who have burned brush piles in the past couple of weeks to check to make sure they are extinguished and cold, so they don't spark a wildfire.
• The National Weather Service says high temperatures Wednesday will reach into the 70s in some areas, possibly setting records.
• Forecasters have posted a high wind watch in the western part of the state and a wind advisory in the central and east for Thanksgiving Day.

Sioux Falls Hostess thrift store closes

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The Hostess bankruptcy proceedings have led to the closure of a discount baked goods store in Sioux Falls.
• The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/QVKAvc) that the Sioux Falls Wonder Hostess Thrift Store on 41st Street closed this week. The closure could affect 10 employees.
• Shoppers stood in line on Monday to buy the few remaining products. Twinkies, which have been flying off shelves across the country since the company's shutdown announcement, sold out at the Sioux Falls store on Monday.
• Hostess and the unions representing its employees have since agreed to mediation.

SD communities receive block grants for projects

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Minnehaha County and five communities in South Dakota have received federal grants for a variety of projects.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard has announced that Brookings, De Smet, Flandreau, Fort Pierre, Twin Brooks and Minnehaha County will receive more than $1.7 million to assist with projects totaling more than $7 million.
• The funding will cover a variety of projects, including creating or improving Boys
