He led the Vikings to their best season in school history in his debut season, when the team went 11-2 and made the NCAA Division II playoffs. Augustana lost to eventual national champion Minnesota Duluth. • The Vikings finished 5-6 this season. They lost their final three home games of the year, one to city rival University of Sioux Falls. •
Crazy Horse to shine blue for diabetes prevention
• CUSTER, S.D. (AP) -- Visitors to Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota will see an unusual sight Tuesday: the large mountain carving will be bathed in blue light. • The idea is to bring awareness to diabetes prevention efforts. The Crazy Horse Memorial is joining 400 other landmarks all over the world in a special night lighting ceremony to promote World Diabetes Day, which is Wednesday. Blue signifies the sky shared by all people and the unified response to the diabetes threat. • The large carving will be illuminated from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time. A similar lighting event is planned in Sioux Falls at Falls Park from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. local time. • Prevention information will also be available at locations throughout the state on Tuesday. •
