Dell Rapids beats Harrisburg 47-0 for 11A title
• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Riley Schmidt returned a fumble 89 yards for a touchdown Friday as Dell Rapids overwhelmed Harrisburg 47-0 in the South Dakota 11A championship football game. • The Quarriers (11-1) gave up just 257 yards to notch their third straight championship. They also beat Harrisburg 55-20 in the 2010 game. Dell Rapids gave up just 112 yards on the ground. • Schmidt added a 56-yard run in the second quarter as Dell Rapids went up 28-0 at the half. He had a 17-yard scoring run in the third quarter and finished with 110 yards on four carries. • Cole Langer had 88 yards and two touchdowns. • Andrwew McCuen passed for 145 yards for Harrisburg (9-3). •
Winner wins 11B title 13-6 over Tri-Valley
• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Isiah Old Lodge returned a fumble 64 yards for a touchdown a deflected the last pass of the game to preserve Winner's 13-6 win over Tri-Valley Friday in the South Dakota 11B championship game. • Winner (12-0) had three goal-line stands and held the Mustangs (10-2) to 130 yards on the ground. • Old Lodge's return with 6:42 left in the third quarter gave Winner some breathing room. Ben Connot's 11-yard run and the PAT put Winner ahead for good early in the second half. • Tri-Valley's Dominick Burggraff caught a 4-yard TD pass from Brett Page for a 6-0 lead. Page passed for 39 yards and the Mustangs ran for 235 yards. • It is Winner's fifth state championship. •
