The Life of Bernice Fliehs

• Family services for Bernice Fliehs, 84, of Groton will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton.  The Rev. Craig Grams will officiate.  Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
• Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to services on Sunday.
• Bernice died October 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
• Bernice Arlene was born on April 17, 1928 in Aber

deen to Walter and Lorna (Gengerke) Schmidt.  She was baptized and confirmed at the First English Lutheran Church of Groton.  Bernice attended East Hanson School and graduated from Groton High School in 1946.  She then studied in Sioux City, Iowa at the Western Union Telegraph School.  Bernice worked as a teletype operator in Chicago, Illinois for Western Union. 
• On September 27, 1947 she united in marriage with Harvey Richard Fliehs, Sr.  at the First English Lutheran Church.  Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. 
• Celebrating her life is her husband, Harvey, their children, Judy Feser; Joan (Jerry) Johnson; Harvey (Sue) Fliehs, II, all of Groton,  grandchildren: Aaron (Chasity) Feser, Heather Feser, Carrie (Chuck) Cole, Adam (Amanda) Feser, Jerry Ray Johnson, Lyndsey (Steve) Higgins and Trey (Becah) Fliehs.  Bernice is also survived by five great-grandchildren, her sister, Patsy Ritter-Miller of Holland, Michigan and her brother, Gordon Schmidt of Bath.   
• Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her son-in-law, Richard Feser.
• Casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
