Lady Tiger Soccer ends positive season By Duane Kavanaugh
• With a fourth place finish in the first ever South Dakota High School Activities Association State Soccer Tournament, the Lady Tigers brought to close a successful soccer season. The Lady Tigers began the season back on a hot August 6th morning with two-a-day practices. Throughout the season, team members from the 5 seniors to the lone seventh grade student worked hard to become a team that picked each other up in support of their goal to make the state tourney in October. • During the season, the team struggled with injuries and scheduling conflicts yet continued to work hard to put a very competitive team on the field. The season saw the Tigers playing a varied and at times very difficult schedule against teams such as the ultimate state champion Aberdeen Central and perennial top teams such as St Thomas Moore and Belle Fourche, who finished second in the club tournament. The Lady Tigers ended the season 4-5-3. • The senior members of the team Abby Gibbs, Amy Hockhalter, Mikki Kavanaugh, Ashley Larson and Savannah Larson, will be missed by the Tigers in the coming year. But as in every future season in every sport, new players will step up and take their place. The 2013 Tigers will look to this (Continued on page 7)
