The Life of LeRoy Weismantel

•The funeral service for LeRoy Weismantel, 74, of Columbia, will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia, with Rev Craig Grams officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Columbia. LeRoy died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
• Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7pm and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October

7 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.
• LeRoy Weismantel was born on April 29, 1938 to Harold and Alice (Kipp) Weismantel in Brown County SD. He grew up and attended Davis School in Cambria Township. Following his education, LeRoy worked part time for his father's business Farm Power Manufacturing, and full time farming land near Columbia, Bath and Mina.
• On June 16, 1957 LeRoy was united in marriage to Shirley Neubauer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Columbia. The two settled on a farm near Columbia. God blessed them with four children.
• In addition to farming, LeRoy was a gifted mechanic and engineer. He was always quick to help out family and friends in need of an auto mechanic, or able to fabricate a proper tool for the job when the need would arise.
• LeRoy enjoyed working on cars and go-carts, fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards. Above all else, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia, the Bath Snowmobile Club, South Dakota Wheat Growers and the Columbia Investment Club.
• Grateful for having shared LeRoy's life are his wife Shirley Weismantel of Columbia SD, daughters Jodie (Gary) Hart, Columbia SD, Sherry (David) Rice, Rosedale IN, Peggy (Timothy) Severson, Blackhawk SD, son Steven (Jeannie) Weismantel, Bath SD, brothers Donald (Eunice) Weismantel, Bath SD and Dean (Judy) Weismantel, Aberdeen SD, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
• He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alice Weismantel and brothers Wilson and Robert Weismantel.
