SD Powerball jackpot winner says money's nice
• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- It's been almost 10 years since Karen Stemwedel learned she was one of the winners of South Dakota's first Powerball jackpot prize. • She was one of the "Watertown 34." It was a group of factory workers who pooled their money and played the lottery regularly. • In February 2003, they found out they'd matched the Powerball jackpot numbers. They ended up splitting a $102 million jackpot with an Indiana man. • Stemwedel and her coworkers ended up getting almost $590,000 each after taxes. She bought a new house with some of the money, and she spends her winters in Arizona. • The Sioux Falls Argus Leader (http://argusne.ws/OJcCUn) says since 2000, almost 18,000 people have won $443.7 million playing South Dakota lottery games. Most prizes have ranged from $100 to $500. •
