Tiger Football: Inexperienced but Ready

• Groton's football team hopes to be competitive despite losing 10 of their starters from last season. The Tigers will be fielding a young group of players this year, although they do have 15 letter winners returning.
• Returning letter winners are: Dalton Locke, Tyler Holm, Nick Johnson, Stephen Simon, Brook Anderson, Toby Carda, Trenton Duncan, Reilly Ell, Kasey Kurtz, Mason Madsen, Alec Oleson, Parker Rossow, Jeric Albrecht, Wyatt Lone and Lucas Sternhagen.
• "Our strength should be our team attitude," Head Coach Shaun Wanner said. "We have some size with some good skilled positions, but we are going to be young and inexperienced at several positions."
• Groton has always faced tough opponents and this year will not be any different. Groton will open the season against Aberdeen Roncalli this Friday at home.
• "Aberdeen Roncalli returns a lot of starters from last season," Wanner said. "In the NEC, Britton/Hecla, Milbank, Sisseton and Webster will all field very good teams with a great deal of experience and talent back from last season. A big test for us will be week six when Mobridge comes to our place."
• The ability to move the ball and hold the line are going to be key issues.
