• These rhythms of the moon result from numerous overlapping cycles. Tomorrow before dawn, the moon will give us the closest apogee - closest far-moon - of the year. Plus, as seen from around the globe, the rather wide waning crescent moon will shine near the largest planet Jupiter and brightest planet Venus in the east before dawn on August 10. And meteors should be flying - though not as thickly as this weekend - between midnight and dawn tomorrow.
