• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $5,000 in the Saturday drawing. • South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card to win the game's second prize. The odds of winning it are one in about 90,600. • The winner has about six months to claim the money. • Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho. The jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday is $440,000. •
W.Va. sends crew to SD to help suppress fire
• CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia is sending a wild land firefighting crew to South Dakota to help suppress a fire in the Black Hills. • The state Division of Forestry says the 20-person crew is traveling to Custer, S.D., on Monday. The crew includes 16 agency staff and four volunteer firefighters. Their tour of duty will last two weeks. •
Late SD lawmaker honored with flags at half-staff
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking that all flags in South Dakota be flown at half-staff on Tuesday to honor former state Sen. George Shanard (SHAN'-urd). • Shanard died Friday at age 86. His funeral is Tuesday at First Presbyterian (Continued on page 23)
