SD asks flags be half-staff for shooting victims
• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking that all flags in South Dakota be flown at half-staff from a.m. until sunset through Friday in respect for victims of the mass shooting at Oak Creek, Wisconsin. • Daugaard noted that President Barack Obama ordered all flags be lowered to half-staff at all public buildings and grounds and at all military facilities out of respect for those killed and injured in Sunday's attack. • Six people were killed and three were critically wounded in the shooting. •
Aberdeen woman killed in apartment fire
• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- A 47-year-old Aberdeen woman has died in the city's second fatal fire in three days. • The woman died in an apartment fire that was reported just after midnight Monday. • Todd Salfrank of Aberdeen Fire and Rescue told the Aberdeen American News (http://bit.ly/Rd5a7g ) that the fire appeared to start in the kitchen of an apartment. He says the flames were contained to the apartment, but there was heavy smoke damage to the apartment and the rest of the building. • Brown County Coroner Michael Carlsen says the woman's identity will not be released until after family members are notified.
