Flandreau edges Groton in defensive battle
It was a defensive battle as Flandreau edged Groton in the State B American Legion Baseball Tournament, 3-1. • Flandreau started off with three hits in the first inning which resulted in a run and leaving two on base. • Brandon Stanley got a single in the bottom of the first inning, but only to be denied scoring as Flandreau held a 1-0 lead. • Flandreau scored two more runs in the top of the second inning as two hits and a sacrifice added to the tally. • Jamie Jorgensen was walked in the bottom of the second. He would advance to second on a pass ball and Mitch Madsen would score him with a single. Groton's only hit scored the only

run and Madsen was left on base. It was 3-1 after two innings. After that, no more scoring for the rest of the game. • Flandreau left one on base in the top of the third when Nic Behrens is walked. • In the bottom of the third, Kalen Kjellsen was walked, Brandon Stanley hit a single and Matt Thorson would hit a single to load the bases.
