Historical Society wants to offer Groton's historic Episcopal Church to City of Aberdeen
• The Brown County Historical Society will host its summer meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Episcopal Church. • The society, owner of the 128-year-old structure, invites the public to take a road trip to Groton to learn more about the historic significance of this unique building and see the newly repainted interior, according a news release. • The church was built by the congregation and its pews, altar and appointments were handmade by pioneer families in the Groton area. It is the single remaining example of a rural board-and-batten Episcopal Church in South Dakota. • The historical society is offering to donate the building to the city of Aberdeen. • This informal program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. • The church is located one block east of Groton's Main Street on the corner of Third Avenue and Third Street.
