• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota has been awarded a state-level grant to update its management of student data. • The three-year, $3 million grant from the Institute of Education Sciences will support development and implementation of a Statewide Longitudinal Data System for the state's K-12 schools. • South Dakota's Education Secretary Melody Schopp says the systems are designed to enhance the ability of states to efficiently and accurately manage, analyze and use education data. • Schopp says it should help districts, schools and educators make data-informed decisions to improve student learning. • South Dakota's award is one of 24 state-level grants authorized by the Educational Technical Assistance Act of 2002. •
