• KELO-TV reports that the DCI is leading the investigation into the death of 3-month-old Brooklyn Howard. Howard died Tuesday. An autopsy was performed Thursday but the Davison County Sheriff says he can't share the results.
• Relatives of the baby's parents tell The Daily Republic that the family is struggling with the death and seeking privacy. The baby's funeral and burial are set for Saturday in Mitchell.
• The name of the day care has not been disclosed.

Johnson: Senate passes 'good, strong farm bill'

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sen. Tim Johnson says the Senate has passed "a

good, strong farm bill" that will reduce the deficit and support millions of agricultural jobs.
• The five-year, half-trillion-dollar farm bill cuts farm subsidies and land conservation spending by about $2 billion a year but largely protects sugar growers. The vote was 65 to 34.
• Johnson says the bill finally includes meaningful payment limitations with an overall $250,000 hard cap on commodity programs.
• The measure now goes to the Republican-led House, where conservatives are certain to resist its costs.
• Johnson says the Senate has done its work, and now the House Agriculture Committee needs to move a bill to provide farmers and ranchers with certainty.
• The current agricultural program ends in September.

Hope is theme of Pine Ridge reservation campaign

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A campaign on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to raise awareness about the high rate of suicide among the reservation's youth is reminding them what all of them can have -- hope.
• The rate of suicide on the reservation is at least 150 percent higher than the national average. In 2009, the Oglala Sioux Tribe declared a state of emergency because of state of suicides on the reservation, which also has high rates of unemployment, violence and alcoholism.
• As part of the Lakota Voice Project, organizers gave about 200 disposable cam
