POET Biorefining - Groton now producing corn oil Voilà™ corn oil can be used as feedstock for biodiesel production
• GROTON, SD (June 5, 2012) - POET Biorefining - Groton has installed POET's patent-pending corn oil technology and is now producing Voilà™, which is primarily used as a feedstock for biodiesel production. • "This is just one more renewable item that we can add to the list of products we produce," General Manager Kelly Kjelden said. "We continue to add value to the local corn supply and have a positive effect on the local economy. We're helping to produce even more renewable fuel from each kernel of corn." • POET has been selling Voilà corn oil into biodiesel and feed markets since January 2011, and strong demand for the product has prompted plans to upgrade the majority of the plants in the POET network. Fourteen plants in the POET network are now producing corn oil, bringing total annual production to approximately 235 million pounds per year, enough to provide feedstock for more than 31 million gallons of biodiesel. • Plants that are producing corn oil today are: • Iowa: POET Biorefining - Ashton, Coon Rapids, Corning, Emmetsburg, Gowrie, Jewell and Hanlontown • Missouri: POET Biorefining - Laddonia • Minnesota: POET Biorefining - Lake Crystal and Glenville • South Dakota: POET Biorefining - Big Stone, Hudson and Groton as well as the (Continued on page 3)
